First-Time Player, Baltimore Nursing Student, Wins $100,000 Scratch-off Prize

BALTIMORE, MD – A 29-year-old nursing student from Baltimore has become $100,000 richer after purchasing her very first Maryland Lottery ticket. The student, who woke up with an unexplainable sense of luck, decided to try her hand at a Maryland Riches scratch-off while stopping for gas at the Oak Street Oceanic station.

The beginner recounted her experience: “I stopped for gas that morning and noticed a Lottery sign at the station. I walked in and asked the guy which was the luckiest ticket he had. Without a pause, he pointed to Maryland Riches, so that was the one.”

She scratched the ticket on the spot and, upon scanning, discovered she had won one of the game’s nine top prizes. “I felt the biggest smile on my face,” she said, expressing her gratitude for the unexpected windfall.

Oak Street Station Oceanic, located at 2040 North Howard Street in Baltimore, will also benefit from this lucky event. The gas station will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Maryland Riches, a game that debuted in March, has six more top prizes of $100,000 up for grabs, as well as 21 second-tier prizes of $10,000 that are still in circulation.
