Public’s Help Sought in Identifying Suspects in Newark Shooting Incident

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who were caught on surveillance footage firing weapons on a neighborhood street. The incident took place on October 7, 2023, around 11:25 p.m. in the 50 block of Astor Street. The suspects, both males, fired shots that struck two unoccupied vehicles before fleeing the scene.

One suspect was seen wearing a grey hoodie sweatshirt, light blue jeans, white sneakers, and a ski mask. The other was dressed in all black clothing, including a hoodie sweatshirt, pants, sneakers, and a ski mask. Police arrived at the scene and recovered three 9mm casings and a .380 casing. Two vehicles were found to have been struck by the gunfire.
