Student Arrested for Bringing Gun to Starmount High School

STARMOUNT, NC – A student at Starmount High School was taken into custody on Saturday after a firearm was discovered on their person.

The information about the student potentially having a firearm was initially reported through the Say Something app.

Once alerted, school administrators immediately contacted law enforcement.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Department responded, increasing their presence at the school. During the search, deputies found a loaded handgun on the student.

The weapon was peacefully confiscated, and the student was detained. Superintendent Dr. Todd Martin reassured the public that no students were at risk during the incident.
