Armed Philadelphia Man Captured After Brief Chase by Newark Police

NEWARK, NJ – The Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Hyneiff Jackson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, following a pursuit on Thursday.

At around 4:24 p.m., troopers observed a silver Hyundai Tucson, driven by Jackson, committing multiple traffic violations on Interstate-95 near Basin Road.

Despite troopers’ orders to stop, Jackson sped away, leading them on a chase that ended on Ogletown Stanton Road.

After his vehicle became disabled, Jackson attempted to flee on foot while clutching a black bag. He resisted arrest, but troopers managed to apprehend him. A subsequent search revealed a loaded handgun, ammunition, MDMA, and over $3,000 suspected to be drug-related proceeds inside the bag.

Jackson, a convicted felon, faces multiple charges including possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a violent felony, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest, among others.

He is currently detained at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with a cash bond set at $49,000.
