NEW CARROLTON, MD – The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is seeking information regarding a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run incident.

The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Franklin Membreno Mendez from New Carrollton.

Officers found Mendez’s body last Friday at approximately 4:05 am on the 7500 block of Ardwick Ardmore Road.

Preliminary findings suggest that Mendez was struck by a car, believed to be a 2011-2017 gray Honda Civic, after he exited his vehicle following a separate minor collision.

The car suspected in the hit-and-run will have noticeable damage, including a hole in its windshield.
