FAA, Jet Blue Investigating Mishap at JFK

54th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport near Paris

NEW YORK, NY – Passengers deplaning from JetBlue flight 662 experienced an unusual event last night when the nose of the Airbus A321 lifted off the ground. The incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. at JFK International Airport.

Citizen video shows the front wheels of the Airbus A321 airborne as passengers were disembarking.

JetBlue issued a statement attributing the occurrence to “a shift in weight and balance,” which resulted in “the tail of the aircraft tipping backward causing the nose of the aircraft to lift up and eventually return back down.”

No injuries were reported, according to JetBlue, which is based in New York. The airline confirmed that it is reviewing the incident and has taken the aircraft out of service for inspection. “Safety is JetBlue’s first priority,” the airline said.
