WASHINGTON, D.C. – A woman suffered multiple injuries and had her dog stolen at gunpoint by two men in Northeast D.C. on Saturday night. The incident occurred on Galloway Street near the Fort Totten metro station at around 10 p.m.

Zaleena Ahmed was walking her dog when she was approached by one of the assailants, who aimed a gun at her and demanded her dog.

Ahmed attempted to resist but was struck in the head with a gun by one of the men while the other snatched the dog from her arms. Both men fled the scene in a black minivan, described as missing a handle on the driver’s side door.

The stolen dog, Max, is a senior West Highland White Terrier weighing about 25 pounds. Max, who is set to celebrate his 15th birthday next week, has a noticeable dark mark beneath his right eye. Max requires special care. Authorities request anyone with information to come forward by calling the police at 202-727-9099 or TEXT TIP LINE by texting 50411.
