Maryland Dad Wins $100,000, Plans to Purchase 1976 Corvette

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD — A Calvert County man bagged a $100,000 top prize in the $100,000 Crossword game, revealing plans to purchase his dream car, a 1976 Corvette.

The winner, a frequent player of Powerball and crossword-themed scratch-offs, secured his fortune with a $10 ticket bought at Wawa #591 in Prince Frederick. Initially winning $20 from a previous ticket, the man returned to the same store the next morning, buying two additional scratch-offs. The first secured him the top prize, while the second ticket did not win.

Joined by his daughter during the celebratory moment, the winner said he was excited but managed to keep it discreet. “I didn’t want anyone to know that I won,” he stated. The Southern Maryland resident also plans to share his winnings with his wife and daughter.

Wawa #591, located at 305 Market Square Drive, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket. The $100,000 Crossword game, introduced in August, currently holds six top prizes and many other options, including 12 $10,000 prizes and over 346,290 $10 prizes.
