Monmouth County Correction Officer Suppied Jailhouse Lover with Cell Phone

Bars from a prison jail cast a shadow on the floro.

FREEHOLD, NJ – Latonya C. Johnson, a 52-year-old Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Police Officer, has admitted to supplying a cellphone to an inmate at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI).

Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced the news on Monday.

Last week, Johnson, from Piscataway, pleaded guilty to knowingly providing an electronic communication device to an inmate.

Investigations revealed that between May and October 2022, she smuggled the device for an inmate with whom she had a romantic relationship.

The charges against Johnson were formally presented in January. Following her plea, Johnson will no longer be eligible for public employment in New Jersey.
