New York and Jersey City Among Best Cities in America for Halloween

NEW YORK, NY – As Halloween approaches, personal-finance website WalletHub has released its 2023’s Best Places for Halloween report. The report aims to guide Americans on where to celebrate Halloween without straining their finances.

WalletHub analyzed the 100 largest U.S. cities, evaluating them on 20 metrics that span from the number of candy and chocolate stores per capita to Halloween party supplies stores per capita, as well as the share of potential trick-or-treat stops.

The top 20 cities for Halloween celebrations, according to WalletHub’s report, are:

  1. New York, NY
  2. Las Vegas, NV
  3. Los Angeles, CA
  4. Miami, FL
  5. Jersey City, NJ
  6. Anaheim, CA
  7. San Diego, CA
  8. Boston, MA
  9. Hialeah, FL
  10. Gilbert, AZ

The report also highlighted various statistics related to Halloween spending and activities:

  • Projected Halloween spending for 2023 stands at $12.2 billion.
  • Costume spending is expected to be $4.1 billion.
  • Candy spending is predicted to reach $3.6 billion.
  • 34% of parents believe that children aged 13 or 14 are old enough to go trick-or-treating alone.
  • 60% of parents admit to taking some candy from their children’s Halloween haul.

WalletHub’s report also indicated that the Halloween attraction industry generates over $1 billion in annual revenue, with 80% of haunted attractions operated by charities.
