Fatal Stabbing Reported During Home Invasion in Bowie

BOWIE, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department is probing a fatal stabbing incident in Bowie. The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Samuel Lee West from Burlington, North Carolina.

On Monday, at 7:05 am, officers from the Bowie Police Department rushed to a residence on the 2700 block of Balsam Place following a reported burglary.

Preliminary findings indicate two suspects attempted entry, with one resorting to pepper spray. Despite being armed, one suspect was stabbed by an occupant upon entering the house. This wounded individual was later declared dead at a hospital.

Detectives believe the event wasn’t random and are now in discussions with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office to decide on pressing charges.
