NEW JERSEY — Motorists using the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will face a 3% toll hike starting January 1, 2024, marking the fourth such increase since 2020.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority greenlit a budget exceeding $2.6 billion on Tuesday. The budget increase correlates with the toll hike and aims to meet the financial requirements for the upcoming year.

The basis for the toll increment, according to the authority, stems from the amount required to fund the approved budget. Officials confirmed that the budget received unanimous support and facilitated the addition of 44 new jobs.

The commission met on Tuesday and approved the new increase.

According to state records, revenue on the New Jersey Turnpike increased 6% in 2023.
