MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Everett James Clayton, the driver of a 9-ton dump truck, has been convicted of murder in the deaths of a pregnant teacher and her unborn child following a head-on collision on Aug. 25, 2022.
Clayton, a 57-year-old from Charleston, W.Va., was operating an unregistered 2003 Ford F650 XLT Super Duty dump truck when he crossed the center line on Park Avenue in Lower Providence Township.
He collided with 31-year-old Kellie Adams’ 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Adams, who was eight months pregnant, died at the scene, and her unborn child was later delivered stillborn.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said that the dump truck was in an “unsafe and unregistered condition.” The truck had been purchased just over a month before the accident by 24-year-old Patrick Doran of Maryland, using the fake name “Jacob Fury” and a fake New York driver’s license.
