SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the conviction of Andy Sukram, 33, of Flanders, after a jury trial.

Sukram was found guilty of possessing close to one ounce of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it.

Sukram was arrested on Wednesday, February 1, after being pulled over on Old Country Road in Riverhead. A search yielded crack cocaine, cash, two cell phones, and a digital scale commonly associated with drug weighing.

Previously, in 2009, Sukram faced convictions for Burglary and Robbery and served a 12-year prison sentence. He was on parole during his February arrest.

On Thursday, before Supreme Court Justice Timothy P. Mazzei, Sukram was convicted of two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.
