Maplewood Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening Around Town

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood Police have reported incidents ranging from a vehicle stop arrest to thefts from parked cars and disorderly conduct.

On October 20, Officer Celis conducted a traffic stop on Prospect St for a minor violation. The driver, 66-year-old Jorge Daza of Elizabeth, had outstanding warrants. He was arrested and later turned over to the New Brunswick Police Department. Daza also received a summons for multiple motor vehicle infractions, including Failure to Stop at a Sign Improper Display, and Unclear Plates.

On October 23, thefts from motor vehicles were reported in two separate incidents. First, a worker on Meadowbrook Rd stated that his unsecured work vehicle had been entered and his backpack taken. The backpack was later found a short distance away with its contents scattered but not missing. Later the same day, a Burnett Ave resident reported that an unsecured vehicle was rummaged through, resulting in the loss of sunglasses and a smartwatch.

Lastly, on October 25, Officer Marto responded to a report of a man damaging a flag on Oakview Ave. The individual, identified as 21-year-old Dejion Walton, matched the description provided and was issued a summons for Disorderly Persons after an on-scene investigation.

Maplewood Police continue to investigate these incidents.
