Shooting Near VCU Monroe Park Campus Leaves One Critically Injured

RICHMOND, VA – Early Wednesday, around 2:30 a.m., officers from VCU and Richmond Police were dispatched to 122 S. Belvidere St. following reports of a shooting near Virginia Commonwealth University’s Monroe Park Campus.

Upon their arrival, they found a man who had sustained gunshot injuries.

He was quickly taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Eyewitnesses reported two males arriving at a nearby 7-Eleven on South Belvidere Street, leading to a confrontation.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly shot the victim in the chest before fleeing the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers are currently collecting further evidence and witness statements to ascertain the events that led to the incident.
