Long Branch Shuts Out Jackson Memorial 13-0 in Central Jersey, Group 4 Quarterfinals

LONG BRANCH, NJ — Long Branch blanked Jackson Memorial 13-0 Friday evening in the first round of the Central Jersey, Group 4 NJSIAA Tournament. The win was highlighted by a strong defensive performance and key contributions from Earnest Reevey.

The scoring began in the first quarter when Reevey threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Zaheem Brown, although the extra point attempt failed, leaving the score at 6-0. The second quarter saw no additional points from either team.

Reevey added another score in the third quarter with a 1-yard run, this time successfully converting the extra point, to extend Long Branch’s lead to 13-0. Jackson Memorial was unable to respond, keeping the score unchanged until the final whistle.

The win elevates Long Branch to a 6-4 record and advances them to the semifinals of the tournament. Jackson Memorial’s season comes to an end with a 7-2 record.

The shutout win solidifies Long Branch as a strong contender as they move on to the next stage of the NJSIAA Tournament.
