Juvenile Shot and Killed in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – A series of gunshots disrupted the early hours of Saturday morning near South Mechanic Street and Merchants Alley.

Cumberland Police Department officers arrived on scene shortly after 1:30AM and discovered four individuals with gunshot wounds. A panic-stricken and intoxicated crowd hindered initial police efforts to secure the area.

A 17-year-old male victim, found unconscious and receiving CPR, succumbed to his injuries at UPMC Western Maryland.

A female with a gunshot wound to the leg and two other individuals were also taken to UPMC Western Maryland for treatment. A suspect has been detained and several individuals are currently being questioned.

The Cumberland Police Department is actively investigating and asked the public to come forward with any relevant information.
