Gunfire Leaves One Injured on Broadway

SCHENECTADY, NY – Early Sunday morning, around 4:30 a.m., the Schenectady Police Department received calls of shots fired near 2525 Broadway.

On reaching the location, a scene from a party was dispersing, and officers found multiple shell casings in the street.

A male victim was later located at Ellis Hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The injuries are reported to be non-life threatening.

As the investigation proceeded, police found a vehicle with two occupants who appeared unconscious. A handgun was visible inside, leading to 25-year-old Dione Kowalchyk being charged with weapon-related offenses.
