“While we support Governor Murphy vetoing unnecessary toll increases the timing of his decision could not be more political. In fact, Governor Murphy did nothing to stop the last three toll increases. New Jerseyans need certainty that this veto isn’t a ploy to delay toll increases until after the election when it is politically convenient for Democrats. We are calling on Governor Murphy to make a commitment to New Jerseyans that tolls will not be increased in the coming year. Republicans will continue standing up for New Jersey families and fighting for legislation that will lower the cost of tolls for commuters.”

Governor Murphy tweeted that he was vetoing the NJTA budget that was approved earlier this week and stated that he needed “more information for why the board is taking this step.”

Senator Holzapfel sponsored S-376 to lower the cost of New Jersey’s tolls and freeze automatic toll increases for a period of three years.
