EAST FLATBUSH, NY – A father and his son were found dead on the fourth floor of an apartment building in East Flatbush around 10:30 p.m. last Sunday, the result of an alleged noise dispute with their downstairs neighbor.

The victims have been identified by family members as 47-year-old Bladimy Mathurin and his 27-year-old son, Chinwai Mode.

According to Marie Delilles, an argument erupted after the neighbor, agitated by the noise from the apartment above, fired nine rounds at both victims in front of her 10-year-old.

The family, who originally hail from Haiti, recently moved to a smaller apartment which led to some adjustments, especially for Delilles’ younger children. There have been longstanding issues concerning noise in the building.

A family friend, Mickael Louis, stated, “Kids make noise all the time, it doesn’t dictate for someone to come up with a firearm and take someone’s life.” The police are yet to make any arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
