CALVERT COUNTY, MD – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has announced that it will be performing routine maintenance on MD 231 (Hallowing Point Road) Bridge over the Patuxent River, located at the border between Calvert County and Charles County. The maintenance is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Sunday, November 5, provided the weather conditions are favorable. The work is expected to be completed by 2 p.m. the same day.

The maintenance activities will include cleaning of the bridge’s drainage systems and its deck. During this period, drivers should anticipate single-lane closures, and traffic will be directed using a flagging operation.

To ensure the safety of motorists and the roadwork crew, the State Highway Administration will deploy flaggers and portable variable message signs throughout the work zone.

Acknowledging the potential inconvenience caused by such operations, the State Highway Administration has emphasized the importance of these maintenance activities in ensuring a safe and dependable highway system.

Motorists are being urged to exercise caution and reduce speed when approaching the work zone. Information about other major projects by the State Highway Administration can be found on the Project Portal.
