SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – After more than two decades of evasion, a 47-year-old man has been extradited back to Suffolk County, New York, to face charges of sexual assault. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, with aid from the United States Marshals Service and the Suffolk County Police Department detectives, facilitated the extradition.

The charges against the individual, which date back to actions between 2002 and 2003, include four counts of first-degree rape, one count of first-degree sodomy, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

The defendant, who allegedly assaulted his 14-year-old stepdaughter, fled to Central America after the discovery of the abuse in 2003.

Brought back on Wednesday, and arraigned the following day, the defendant remains in custody pending trial.

The court date is set for December 15, and defense attorney Thomas Barra represents the defendant.
