Well-Liked Brooklyn Man Known for His Wisdom, Found Murdered in Backyard

New York City Medical Examiner on scene.

BROOKLYN, NY – The New York City Police Department is investigating the murder of Tikya Francis, a 45-year-old man, in his East Flatbush apartment last Wednesday.

At approximately 12:05 p.m., emergency services were alerted to the basement apartment on E. 94th St., where Francis was found nearby with a fatal chest wound in the backyard.

Despite rapid transportation to Kings County Hospital, Francis succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses reported seeing three men fleeing the scene, but no arrests have been made as of yet.

Francis, remembered as “Mr. Common Sense” by his neighbors, was a well-regarded community member known for his offering his wisdom and advice to others. This incident occurred amidst a spate of local violence, which includes the recent shooting incident involving Jason Pass.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
