Microwave Malfunction Triggers House Fire on Willard Road in Paramus

PARAMUS, NJ — A residential fire on Willard Road, near Midland Avenue, broke out on the afternoon of November 4, originating in a microwave before spreading through the home.

The blaze quickly moved from the kitchen appliance to the cabinets and entered the property’s attic. Firefighters were required to open up the roof to combat the flames effectively.

A senior occupant of the home was attended to by Paramus EMS members, who provided care and warmth with blankets on the front lawn of a neighboring house.

Support at the scene came from the Oradell Fire Department, who assisted the Paramus firefighters in extinguishing the fire. Borough police were also present and responded to the incident.

The extent of the damage to the home is currently being assessed, and an investigation into the precise cause of the fire is underway. No further details on the resident’s condition or potential other occupants have been released.
