Kentucky Teen Charged with Attempted Murder of Police Officer

MOUNT WASHINGTON, KY – An 18-year-old is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer with a screwdriver.

Kenzie Vanarsdale was arrested on Saturday morning following the incident with Officer Mark Bramer of the Mount Washington Police Department. According to authorities, the attack occurred around 6:15 a.m. on November 4 as Bramer was unlocking the gates to Lindsey Duvall Park.

The situation escalated when Vanarsdale, initially compliant, fled from Bramer as he collected her information. After a short chase, she stopped and appeared to surrender. It was during the arrest attempt that Vanarsdale reportedly turned on Bramer with a screwdriver, striking him near the eye.

The motive behind the assault is currently under investigation. Officer Bramer received medical attention following the altercation, and Vanarsdale remains in custody with charges pending.
