LA CROSSE, WI — Lori Ann Phillips, 53, is facing a second-degree reckless homicide charge following the hit-and-run death of her husband, Mark Phillips, 48, in February 2019.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s sergeant discovered the victim’s body in a snowbank near the couple’s residence, with Lori Ann Phillips at the scene. The complaint indicates that the couple had an altercation before the incident, with Mark Phillips consuming alcohol.

Lori Ann Phillips, found by the sergeant next to her husband’s body, appeared distressed and mentioned their previous argument, asserting her unawareness of her husband’s location outside.

During the investigation, Phillips described fleeing the scene in her vehicle after her husband approached her aggressively, unaware that he was near the truck as she drove away.

She later found Mark Phillips in the snow after he was missing from their bedroom, according to her statement to authorities.
