MANHATTAN, NY – District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., alongside State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Assemblymember Grace Lee, recently announced the introduction of the Hate Crimes Modernization Act.

This new bill aims to expand the scope of hate crime eligible charges from 66 to 97.

The measure will enhance the legal framework to combat discrimination and hate-based violence.

With New York experiencing a spike in hate crimes, the legislation seeks to provide prosecutors with more robust tools to address this trend.

The enhanced legal measures are expected to reinforce the state’s stance against hate and discrimination, ensuring the safety of its communities.
