NYPD Officers Sprayed with Chemical Responding to Brooklyn Shoplifting Incident

NEW YORK, NY – A shoplifting event at a Target on Flatbush Avenue escalated to violence on Monday evening. At approximately 7:45 PM, an unidentified person stole merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. When confronted by two NYPD officers, the individual resisted, resulting in a physical altercation.

During the struggle, the suspect used a chemical spray against the officers, causing eye injuries. The assailant fled on foot. The affected officers received treatment at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and are in stable condition.

An investigation is underway, and authorities are seeking information on the suspect’s whereabouts.
