Cumberland Man Threw Cup of Hot Coffee in Woman’s Face, Charged and Released

CUMBERLAND, MD – Cumberland City Police arrested John Joseph Smith, 68, following an assault at a business on Industrial Blvd. Smith allegedly threw hot coffee in a woman’s face during an argument, causing visible injuries.

After an initial court appearance, he was released on his own recognizance. Smith faces charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
