New Jersey Man Hunted by FBI for Capitol Assault on Cop In Custody

HELMETTA, NJ — Gregory Yetman, a former military police sergeant linked to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots, was captured by the FBI, ending a multi-day search. The arrest occurred in Helmetta, New Jersey, marking a significant development in ongoing investigations related to the Capitol attack.

The FBI confirmed Yetman’s custody in an online statement. A spokesperson elaborated that Yetman would remain detained in New Jersey over the Veteran’s Day weekend, noting his refusal of medical treatment. Notably, Yetman was unarmed at the time of his surrender on Friday morning.

Yetman faced a warrant issued on Monday for multiple charges. These include assaulting and impeding law enforcement officers, obstructing law enforcement during a civil proceeding, unauthorized entry and activity in a restricted area, engaging in violence in such an area, and committing violent acts on Capitol grounds.

This arrest adds to the extensive legal proceedings following the Capitol riots, highlighting continued efforts to bring those involved to justice.
