Virginia Beach Police Department Honors Master Police Officer for Exemplary Service

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia Beach Police Department recently recognized Master Police Officer (MPO) Bertram for her contributions to the community.

MPO Bertram, serving with the Special Operations Traffic Safety Unit, has led the department in DUI arrests, securing 54 convictions over the past 15 months.

Her effort in traffic enforcement has resulted in 715 summonses for violations such as speeding and reckless driving, and 72 additional arrests for various criminal activities, including illegal firearms and narcotics possession.

MPO Bertram’s role extends beyond standard patrol duties. As one of the department’s four Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officers, she has completed over 120 hours of specialized training and conducted 18 DRE evaluations within the nomination period.

Her expertise has also been shared through training initiatives for Commonwealth Attorneys and fellow officers.
