Homicide Investigation Underway in Utica Following Grisly Discovery

UTICA, NY – Utica Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a disturbing incident on November 11th. Officers were dispatched to an address on the 100 block of Eagle Street after reports of blood leaking through a ceiling.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of blood in the apartment below and proceeded to perform a welfare check in the unit above. A blood-covered male emerged from this apartment, locking the door behind him, and was detained by the officers.

Forced entry was necessary for a safety check of the apartment. Inside, a large pool of blood and signs of something being dragged were immediately evident. Following this trail, officers discovered a deceased male in the bathtub. Utica Fire Department pronounced the individual deceased on the scene.

The Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit were summoned to investigate further. Preliminary findings indicate the victim suffered multiple gunshot and stab wounds, along with other injuries.

The victim’s identity is withheld pending notification of the family. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
