Barnegat Woman Charged with DWI, Child Endangerment in Beachwood Crash

BEACHWOOD, NJ – A 36-year-old woman from Barnegat faces multiple charges, including DWI and child endangerment, following a vehicle accident on Route 9 & Route 166.

Officer Justin Apel responded to the incident on Wednesday, October 11th, where the woman reportedly struck two traffic signs and attempted to flee the scene. A witness remained and provided crucial details to the officers. The woman’s two sons, ages 4 and 6, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The suspect was arrested, processed, and held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing. In addition to DWI and reckless driving, she faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child.

The children’s current status and any injuries sustained in the incident were not immediately disclosed.
