Child Abuse Charges Filed Against Man in Death of 4-Year-Old Baltimore Child

BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore County Police Department’s homicide detectives charged Zurail Smith, 26, with multiple counts of child abuse related to the death of 4-year-old Amir James on May 5.

The child was discovered unresponsive at a residence on Sollers Point Road and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Smith, responsible for the child’s care at the time, is currently detained without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
