RBC’s US unit City National appoints Chris Doll as CFO

(Reuters) – Royal Bank of Canada’s U.S. unit, City National Bank, has appointed Chris Doll as chief financial officer, starting Nov. 27, a spokesperson told Reuters in an email on Tuesday.

Doll joins from Fifth Third Bancorp, where he served as the senior vice president and head of investor relations. He will succeed John Bai, who will stay until the end of the year to support the transition, the statement added.

The appointment comes days after City National named Howard Hammond, also a veteran of Fifth Third, as its new chief executive officer.

In a regulatory report last month, City National disclosed that RBC has injected about $2.95 billion into the bank to bolster its capital and the liquidity position of its balance sheet.

RBC, Canada’s top lender, had bought City National in 2015 for $5.4 billion.
