Student Arrested for Bringing Firearm to Massillon Junior High School

MASSILLON, OH – A Massillon Junior High School student was detained after being found in possession of a firearm on school premises last Monday.

School administrators were alerted at the day’s end about the student having a gun.

The Massillon City School District emphasized its commitment to the safety and security of its students and staff in a Facebook post. It was confirmed that no direct threats were made to students or staff members.

The student was promptly taken into police custody. The school district expressed its appreciation for the presence of a school resource officer at the Massillon Middle School Complex.

Further cooperation with the Massillon Police Department is ongoing, and the school district will apply suitable disciplinary actions to the student involved.
