Illegal Gun Found on Student at Bowie High School

BOWIE, MD – The Bowie Police Department, on Tuesday, at 12:30 pm, seized an unregistered black and tan 9mm “ghost” gun with a 30-round extended magazine from a student at Bowie High School.

School administrators alerted the School Resource Officer, leading to the apprehension of a 15-year-old male student.

The student, invoking his rights, refrained from issuing a statement. Subsequently, he was detained by the Department of Juvenile Services and transported to the Cheltenham Youth Detention Center. It was determined that there was no immediate threat to school safety, and no injuries were reported.

As a precautionary measure, the Bowie Police Department will enhance their presence at the high school.
