AS VEGAS, NV — Christine Walton, known as “The Dutchess,” held the title of the world’s longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) from 2011-2016. Her nails, measuring a combined length of 731.4 cm (23 ft 11 in), became an unintended marvel. Walton, a Las Vegas-based singer and mother, began growing her nails in the 1990s. Busy with her music career and raising daughters, she rarely visited nail salons, leading to their extraordinary length.
In 2016, she cut her nails off but still holds the record.
Despite challenges in clothing selection and household chores, Walton adapted her lifestyle to accommodate her nails. She employed creative solutions like using tongs for laundry and cabinet retrieval. Her nail-care routine, involving acrylic layers and gold flakes, was a meticulous process taking up to two days.
Walton, who replaced former record-holder Lee Redmond, faced her unique situation with positivity.
She continued performing daily tasks, including driving and cooking, and embraced the uniqueness of her condition in her songwriting, encouraging others to find beauty in differences.
