Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting Involving Teen Reported in East Bloomfield

EAST BLOOMFIELD, NY – A confrontation in East Bloomfield resulted in a fatal officer-involved shooting on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. at 2283 State Route 64.

A New York State Trooper, acting on an anonymous tip regarding a potential threat, encountered a 17-year-old male suspect.

The suspect, during the interview, suddenly brandished a knife and attacked the Trooper. In the ensuing struggle, the Trooper discharged his firearm, fatally wounding the assailant.

The New York State Attorney General’s Office, in conjunction with the New York State Police, is conducting an investigation following Executive Law Section 70-b. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
