High-Speed Chase With Stolen Car in Toms River Ends in Collision

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A high-speed pursuit initiated by Toms River Police ended in a collision Wednesday night. Officer Michael Weg, while on patrol around 11:00 PM on November 8th, spotted a vehicle reported stolen from Bridgewater at a traffic light on Route 37.

The driver, identified as Dylan Panatero, 40, of Toms River, fled upon the officer’s approach, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended when Panatero lost control of the vehicle and collided with another car at Fischer Boulevard and Yellowbank Road. Panatero sustained minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center.

The other driver received on-site treatment and refused further medical attention. Charges against Panatero include second-degree eluding, receiving stolen property, assault by auto, and causing a crash with injury while suspended.

He also faces several motor vehicle violations. The stolen vehicle has been impounded, and the owner notified.
