New Jersey School Bus Monitor Faces Upgraded Charges in Child’s Death

by Charlie Dwyer

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A New Jersey school bus monitor, arrested in connection with the death of 6-year-old Fajr Williams, is set for arraignment on upgraded charges today. The incident, which occurred in Franklin Township, has led to increased scrutiny over school transportation safety protocols.

Amanda Davila, 27, was initially charged following the tragic event in July, where young Fajr Williams was strangled by her wheelchair harness.

Reports indicate that at the time of the incident, Davila was using her cell phone and earbuds, an act against the school’s policy and safety regulations.

The charges against Davila have been elevated to first-degree aggravated manslaughter, along with a second-degree child endangerment charge. This development signifies the severity of the negligence involved in the case.
