Felony Gun Charges for Philadelphia Man Following Newark Traffic Stop

NEWARK, DE – Delaware State Police arrested Christian Smith, 32, from Philadelphia, for felony gun charges on Wednesday.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop by the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force in Churchmans Road, Newark, an area noted for frequent drug use and violent crimes.

Smith was apprehended after a foot chase and taser deployment.

A search of his vehicle revealed a loaded handgun and ammunition.

As a convicted felon, Smith faces charges including Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Resisting Arrest, and Fictitious or Canceled Registration.
