16-Year-Old Car Thief Caught by Victim, Held Until Philadelphia Police Arrived

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Southeast District patrol officers were recently dispatched to the 6600 block of Holabird Avenue following a report of an attempted auto theft.

The incident occurred on Sunday, at around 12:47 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 19-year-old victim detaining a 16-year-old male suspect.

The suspect had attempted to steal the victim’s 2018 Hyundai Elantra but was caught and restrained by the victim.

The suspect, after receiving treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital, was taken into the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services.
