Father Arrested in Nebraska for Fatal Shooting of 10-Year-Old Son on Thanksgiving

OMAHA, NE – Will McDonald, 47, has been arrested following the tragic death of his 10-year-old son, Kendrick McDonald. Omaha Police responded to a shooting report at 1112 N 31st Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, where they discovered Kendrick with a gunshot wound.

Kendrick was urgently transported to Nebraska Medicine by Omaha Fire Department personnel but succumbed to his injuries. The incident, occurring in front of their family home with several witnesses present, led to Will McDonald’s arrest on Thanksgiving Day.

McDonald faces charges of criminal homicide, use of a weapon-gun, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. The Omaha Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. The Omaha Police Department extended its deepest condolences to Kendrick’s family and will provide updates through the OPD Public Information Office.
