Body of Missing Man Pulled from Byram River

PORT CHESTER, NY – In a joint effort, Port Chester Police Department, with the assistance of New Rochelle Police Department’s Dive Team and Rye Police Department, recovered the body of a deceased male from the Byram River on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Jan Yepes-Perafan, a 22-year-old who was previously reported missing. The ongoing investigation, currently led by the Port Chester Police Department, seeks to determine the circumstances surrounding Yepes-Perafan’s disappearance and death. The medical examiner is set to conduct an examination to officially ascertain the cause of death. Preliminary observations suggest no signs of foul play.

The search operation spanned over three days, involving multiple agencies including Westchester County Aviation, the Real Time Crime Unit, New York State Police, Greenwich Police Department, Port Chester Fire Department, Port Chester Emergency Medical Services, and Port Chester Department of Public Works.

Officials from the involved departments expressed their commitment to the exhaustive search efforts, emphasizing the goal of providing closure to Yepes-Perafan’s family. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
