Armed Suspect Wanted for Aiming Gun, Assaulting Cops On the Loose in Greenwood Area

GREENWOOD, DE – On Tuesday night, the Delaware State Police and Kent County Governor’s Task Force were involved in a shooting incident with 27-year-old Brian Holben, a known fugitive.

The encounter occurred at approximately 9:27 p.m. in the parking lot of 4937 Hickman Road, Greenwood.

Detectives attempted a traffic stop on Holben, who was in a Jeep Cherokee. Holben tried to escape, assaulting two State Police vehicles with his Jeep.

He then aimed a handgun and fired at a detective, who, along with others, returned fire. Holben fled into a nearby wooded area and remains at large.

Brian Holben is wanted for Attempted Murder, Reckless Endangering, and other charges. The public is advised to avoid Holben, as he is considered armed and dangerous. If spotted, contact 9-1-1 immediately. The troopers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, and an investigation into the use of force is underway.
