Arrest Made in Attempted Armed Carjacking in Northern Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD – A 26-year-old man, Charles McDowell, was arrested in connection with an attempted armed carjacking on November 30, 2023. The incident occurred at approximately 7:06 p.m. in the 5300 block of York Road.

According to police reports, the victim was at a gas station when approached by two unidentified black males, one of whom was armed with a gun. The suspects demanded the victim’s vehicle keys. Upon the victim’s refusal, alleging not to have the keys, one of the suspects assaulted him before fleeing in a white SUV.

A vehicle description was swiftly dispatched, leading to the quick location of the suspect vehicle in the 2800 block of Oakley Avenue by Foxtrot, a police aerial unit. Responding officers arrested McDowell at this location.

Further investigation revealed that the white SUV used by McDowell was a stolen vehicle. McDowell has been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he faces charges related to the incident.
