Delaware Man Sentenced for West Nyack Homicide

West Nyack, NY – Eric Ross Jr., a 29-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, has been sentenced to 25 years to life for a homicide that occurred in West Nyack.

The sentencing followed a guilty verdict for second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

On November 24, 2018, Ross visited Youbs Auto Sales on Route 59 in West Nyack to confront the owner, Youbens Joseph, over a car purchase.

The altercation escalated, leading Ross to fatally shoot Joseph with a 9mm Ruger semi-automatic pistol.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II commented on the case, noting the community impact of the crime. The court upheld the jury’s verdict, leading to Ross’s current sentence, which includes 15 years for weapon possession, to be served concurrently.
