Hicksville Man Admits Guilt in Fatal 2022 DWI Collision

MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the guilty plea of Oscar Argueta, 37, from Hicksville, for his role in a fatal DWI crash in June 2022.

Argueta admitted to Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and other charges before Judge Robert McDonald.

The crash, which occurred in Hempstead, resulted in the death of 48-year-old David Popoola and serious injuries to his wife.

Argueta, driving a Dodge Durango while intoxicated, collided with the Popoola’s Mercedes at high speed. Argueta’s sentencing is scheduled for February 7, 2024, with a recommended prison term of five to 12 years.
